Coefficient de friction des plaquettes Ferodo

Roder ses plaquettes Ferodo DS2500, DS3000, DSUNO, DS1.11 ou DS3.12

Pour roder vos plaquettes Ferodo de compétition, il va falloir les amener aux températures d'utilisation en course, mais progressivement. Un rodage trop rapide de vos plaquettes risque d'entraîner un glaçage de celles-ci.

Ce rodage peut être fait sur une série de tours où les vitesses maximales peuvent être atteintes, mais où les freinages doivent s'effectuer plus tôt, avec une pression légère sur les freins. Freinez 15 fois à hauteur de 50 % de la puissance utilisée en condition de course, suivi de décélérations complètes après ces 15 tentatives. Pour accélérer le processus, ces freinages peuvent être faits aussi bien en ligne droite que dans les virages.

Il est important de laisser les freins refroidir entre le rodage et la course, au minimum 5 minutes. Pendant ce laps de temps, inspectez vos freins : la surface complète de vos disques doit être marquée de façon uniforme.

Vos plaquettes de frein Ferodo Racing sont maintenant rodées.

De la fumée peut s'échapper de vos DS2500/DS3000/DSUNO/DS1.11/DS3.12 suite au rodage, il n'y a rien de préoccupant ici. Idéalement, vos plaquettes atteindront 500° C durant le rodage, mais dans le cas des DSUNO, la température peut varier entre 500° et 700° C.

Certaines plaquettes Ferodo DSUNO/DS1.11/DS3.12 ont une référence se terminant par ZB ou B. Celles-ci ont subi un traitement thermique spécifique à très haute température lors de leur fabrication. En résulte :

  • Un processus de rodage réduit. Montez simplement vos plaquettes, procédez à 5 freinages comme mentionné plus haut, et voila le rodage terminé.
  • Un composé plus robuste. Il n'y a aucun trou de fixation, pour un produit renforcé et moins sujet aux déformations.
  • Une résine stabilisée. Toute réaction de la surface est évitée dans le premier stade de la vie de la plaquette, comme par exemple le rétrécissement du matériau.
